　　Similar to lots of students,I met most of my best friends in high school,where we spent 6 years together.After finishing high school,we moved apart to different cities,different countries,or even different continents!

　　Dany and I were best friends in high school.Looking back,it felt absolutely crazy to be able to find someone that shared the same interests and values with me.We enjoyed the same TV shows,novels,music and jokes!Whenever we got together,there were always endless gossip and laugher.She opened the world of fantasy literature to me,where I learnt of magical creatures,wizards and elfs,and we even went as far as exploring magical spells together.High school could have been so boring without her!After high school,I moved to United States and she moved to Singapore.We devoted all our time into building a new life in a new place.Years after years,we rarely found a time to call each other and mostly replied on social media to stay in each other’s life.

　　12 years after we last met,I was invited to visit Singapore for a wedding.Dany immediately reached out to me once she heard I was coming.She asked me to meet her at a caféonce I got off the plane.I dragged my luggage there and waited patiently,when she showed up at the door,it was like time never passed!She looked exactly the same as how I remembered her in high school!When she came up to me,we both got tongue tied.Instead of coming up with what to say,she asked me what I would like to drink.I told her I would walk to the counter with her and we can figure out together.Staring at the menu,we both knew immediately what each other would order.It was all too familiar,since we hang out in cafes all the time after school when we were kids.This was the first time we met after 12 years,but instead of being overly emotional,we were incredibly calm and casual and didn’t bother to talk about anything significant!I guess that’s what a best friend really is:someone you are extremely comfortable with,and not even time can change that.
