     It is more important for a building to serve a purpose than to look beautiful.Architects should not worry about producing a building as a piece of art work.Do you agree or disagree?

　　比起看起来好看，让建筑物能够满足一定的需求更重要。建筑师不忧虑要把建筑物建成艺术品。你同意还是不同意？

　　Recent decades have witnessed considerable changes in the appearance of buildings due to several reasons,and there are some people who believe that architectures should lay emphasis on the practical value of the constructions rather than their aesthetic value.Personally,I disagree with this idea.

First of all,buildings with unique shape can be used as landmarks to boost the local tourism.This is largely because that the most attractive tourist attractions are generally with good natural scenery,strong historical value or obvious architectural features.Compared with the first two features which are hardly to alter by current citizens,the design of the moderns buildings can be determined at the beginning of plan.Although the cost of building with unique shape is generally higher than those solely serving simple functions,considering the large number of new tourists attracted by these establishments,this is actually a very profitable behavior.Apart from the aesthetic value of building,the appearance of buildings can surely influence the local surroundings as this constructs part of the atmosphere.Stunning cosmetic architectural features can illuminate a boring neighborhood,while the single and monotonous environment will weaken dynamic of people's thought,which eventually gives rise to the impairment of people's innovation ability.

　Admittedly,any building is constructed to serve a purpose,which might be accommodating,storing and so forth.Therefore utility of constructions,especially the ones of residence,is widely recognized by most architects and the general public as well.Focusing on function is also a cost saving practice as various ornaments which serve no obvious function would be simplified at the greatest extent or even eliminated.

　　Overall,it seems to me that it would be ideal that a building satisfies both functional and aesthetic aspects,but considering the effectiveness of the buildings with attracting shapes,I strongly recommend that the designers should not completely sacrifice the appearance of constructions and only focus on the purpose.
