　　I am a big lover of books,especially fictions.They are magical:they can guide me,transport me,and make me feel safe and courageous.They even make me feel like I know people and places that have never existed,which is a very strange experience.I have also read a lot of self-help books.But compared to telling me straight up what I am supposed to do,observing and understanding a character that I care about allows me to learn about life lessons more profoundly.I want to talk about a magical book series that goes beyond magic:Harry Potter.

　　I know it is a clichéto discuss this,and just like a lot of kids,I read all 7 books of the series when I was in high school and watched the movies a million times.Did I learn how to wave a wand?Hell yes!Did I learn how to cast a spell?Absolutely!I am pretty sure I can kill a dementor myself by the time I finished book 6,since,by then,Harry had showed me how to kill them so many times!What I didn’t realize was,by going through life with Harry and his friends,the author had planted her wisdom for dealing with life’s greatest challenges in my heart.Harry often needs to deal with deep,dark issues that no child should ever have to deal with.Being born an orphan and constantly hunted by the most powerful enemy of the world,he taught me how to overcome fears,how to forgive others when life was unfair,how to be kind and find joy in small things when you became powerful.Neville Longbottom,especially during the last grand fight with Voldemort,showed me how to step up even when he was not ready,and how to find a way to contribute when his peers appeared to be more talented.And finally,like many other readers,the most important concept I learnt from Lily and Snape was the meaning of“unconditional love”.

　　I saw life through the characters’eyes and felt I could understand and even speak to them.The series isn’t just useful in passing down its wisdom:it becomes a reliable companion that I can turn to and found support,amusement,safety and-in a lot of circumstances–answers.
